Philip Tebb studied Music at Durham University, where he was a Choral Scholar at the Cathedral, and at the Royal College of Music at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School with Russell Smythe. His studies at RCM were generously supported by the Anne Clayton Award, Stanley Picker Trust Award, the Audrey Sacher Award and the Josephine Baker Trust. Philip’s singing career started on the professional church choir circuit in London, where he has been a member of the choir at St Bride’s Fleet Street since 2002. He undertakes a variety of work that includes consort singing with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Academy of Ancient Music, the BBC Singers and Polyphony, performing as an extra chorister with the chorus of the Royal Opera House and recording both in classical and film repertoire. Singing teaching has also played a large part of his work and, having been at Dulwich College for many years, he now teaches at Perse School and King’s College School in Cambridge. 

 

Philip is also in great demand as an oratorio soloist for choral societies around the country. Recent highlights include: Bach Matthaus Passion in St John's Smith Square; Bach Johannes Passion in Cadogan Hall; Bach Magnificat in Cadogan Hall; Beethoven Mass in C in Dorcester Abbey; Britten War Requiem in the Royal Festival Hall; Elgar The Dream of Gerontius Snape Maltings, Handel Messiah in the Royal Festival Hall and Freemason’s Hall; Haydn Creation in Tewkesbury Abbey; Mozart Requiem in St Martin-in-the-Fields; Mendelssohn Elijah in Dorking Halls; and Verdi Requiem in St Martin-in-the-Fields.
