Growing up in the heart of South East London, the inequality with which musical and educational opportunities were afforded was hard to ignore. It was alarming that in a city so culturally rich, the classical music scene could remain such a monoculture. It is therefore thrilling to have become part of an ensemble that holds values of diversity and inclusion at its core, rather than as turning to them as an afterthought.
I am a regular singer in the professional octet at St Paul's Church (Knightsbridge) and enjoy a varied freelance career alongside this. Beyond my own singing, I teach pupils at Cardinal Vaughan School and Grey Coat Hospital School where it is encouraging to see children from diverse backgrounds fall in love with music.
Away from singing, I enjoy trail running and following the misfortunes of Fulham Football Club.
