Originally from West London, I first began singing at St Benedict’s Parish church in Ealing and was later awarded a Choristership to Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford under Stephen Darlington. I was then fortunate enough to gain a full music scholarship to Eton College. I went on to study as an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge reading Classics and singing as a Baritone Choral Scholar in the Choir of King’s College under Daniel Hyde.

 

On leaving school, I decided to take a Gap Year working at King’s College School, Cambridge. Following this, I was appointed as a Boarding House Tutor, providing both pastoral and musical support for the school’s choristers and boarders, alongside my degree. As a musician from a minority ethnic background, I have always had a huge passion for further developing the provision of musical opportunities for children of all upbringings. My pastoral work in education settings coupled with my musical experience, provide me with the ideal platform from which to teach and engage young people in singing.

 

I enjoy working with several music education organisations including the Rodolfus Foundation, running consort groups, leading workshops and managing changing voices schemes. I became a trustee of the Rodolfus Foundation in October 2021. In addition, I regularly undertake work with Tenebrae providing singing workshops to children in state schools around London. Since then, I have had the pleasure of working on other education projects and courses with the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and the Gabrieli Consort.

 

In my free time, I love watching and playing cricket and am an aspiring cook (though often with mixed results!). I enjoy performing with various ensembles including the Cambridge-based close-harmony group, The King’s Men, of which I am Co-Musical Director for 2022-23. I was proud to launch the group’s ‘Engagement and Learning’ programme in December 2022 with the aim of bringing music to a wide range of schools around the country.

I am super excited to be singing with Vox Urbane and to be joining such a diverse and talented group of singers. Promoting diversity in choral music and singing is so important, now more than ever. I can’t wait to see how we can engage and inspire the next generation of budding young singers, wherever they may be!
